Heart Failure: Can It Be Stopped?
Posted on November 11th, 2009 No comments
Heart failure could be stopped in aging people, according to a new Japanese study.
The study at the Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine claims one gene, P13k, is the main culprit for heart failure causes as we get older.
If the P13k gene is suppressed, the tissue cells will not age as fast.
The study shows promise in heart aging research but we need to note it is only a study.
Much work still needs to be done to understand how our heart tissue ages and how we can prevent heart failure.
However, it is a good start and if most of the damage is done by P13k, then by controlling P13k we may be able to control heart aging in the future.Read Study: Aging Heart Can Be Prevented

Preventive Strategies For Healthy Aging- Is It Possible To Develop Something Like An Anti-aging Gene?

I have heard there is a gene that strengthens the integrity of cell membranes against disease and free radicals that cause cell ageing and -damage. Would it be possible to boost that factor somehow; maybe design a more potent version that actually keeps ageing as such in check?
