How You Can Choose Perfect Yoga Mats
Posted on January 30th, 2010 No comments
Having decided to chase the practice of yoga it is then necessary to consider how it’s possible for you to do your yoga exercises in the most comfortable and efficient way. This means that you should at least decide to get the right kind of yoga mat and then look at the qualities in the mat that will ensure that it provides efficient service to you. The very first thing to look for in your yoga mat is that it must provide adequate traction which naturally translates to permitting all of your body parts to get a good grip and which also prevents your body from slipping.Helps You Maintain Your Yoga Pose
The right yoga mat will ensure that you can maintain the required yoga pose for the mandatory amount of time, particularly when you want to hold a particular pose for an extended period of time. The right kind of yoga mat is also one that lies flat on the ground or floor after you spread the mat. Additionally, the yoga mat must be soft so that your body gets the correct amount of cushioning while also being firm enough to provide correct support to the body. It also helps to select a yoga mat that will easily be cleaned up.
Most yoga mats are rather thin and their main purpose is to make you feel as cosy as feasible and so it pays to understand that purchasing a yoga mat represents a sound investment and it should additionally be the 1st item of yoga accessory that you should purchase before beginning your yoga exercises.
You should also expect to come across a variety of yoga exercise mats of which the Classic, luxury and Cotton Chemical Free or Organic mats are good examples. You want to also select your yoga mat according to the sort of material from which it is made of. You can select artificial materials or natural ones such as cotton and jute or you may use latex and even PVC that are also quite favored. Last but not least, you can choose to buy yoga mats that are a mix of both natural rubber and jute.
After buying your yoga mat it also is sensible that you should buy a yoga mat bag with which you can store your precious mat in a safe and secure manner. You may place your mat in the bag and then transport it conveniently and easily.
The following are my favorite health quotes.
The power of love to change bodies is legendary, built into folklore, common sense, and everyday experience. Love moves the flesh, it pushes matter around…. Throughout history, “tender loving care” has uniformly been recognized as a valuable element in healing. ~Larry Dossey
As a people, we have become obsessed with Health. There is something fundamentally, radically unhealthy about all this. We do not seem to be seeking more exuberance in living as much as staving off failure, putting off dying. We have lost all confidence in the human body. ~Lewis Thomas, The Medusa and the Snail, 1979

Preventive Strategies For Healthy Aging-Who Lives the Longest and Why
Who lives the longest? Do your genes really doom you? Is your diet that important? Can you have happy, healthy later years, or do you really have to be sick?
Dan Buettner of Blue Zone, along with the National Geographic, found five areas of the world where people live the longest and healthiest. He studied what they do, what they eat, etc.
He found each area has at least one distinct diet that helps people stay healthier longer.
Is there such a pocket of such people in the U.S.?
Yes, in Loma Linda California. They are Seventh Day Adventists and they base their diet on Gen 1:29.
Here’s the passage.
Then God said,” I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” (NIV version)
Interesting…. the eating of meat had not been introduced yet. The plant based died was the original diet.

Preventive Strategies For Healthy Aging- Brain Function May Improve with Internet Use
Posted on October 23rd, 2009 No commentsPreventive Strategies For Healthy Aging- Brain Function May Improve with Internet Use Brain function may improve with Internet use, according to a new study. What’s more, the study is bringing up the possibility that the Internet may actually be changing brains. Is this possible? Yes, according to Dr. Gary Small, professor of psychiatry at UCLA. As we know, one of the biggest problems of old age is dementia and the loss of thinking skills. But these dramatic results may hold a key for future seniors who will be able to help maintain some of their brain skills because of Internet surfing. That’s because tests are showing that seniors are improving even if they have only been spending a small amount of time surfing. Our conclusion? If your aging parent likes to surf on the internet help him stay interested. Make sure his computer is working and encourage him to spend more time working and playing with it.
