What Is Aging Placenta And How Does It Effect An Unborn Child?
Posted on February 7th, 2010 No commentsThe placenta generally starts to break down once a mom is past 40 weeks. It’s not made to last past full-term pregnancy. Occaisionally, it starts sooner. It can start detaching too early and calcium deposits can form – preventing things passing to the baby if it’s significant.
My son was born at 41 weeks and they could seem some calcium deposits on the placenta, but it wasn’t dangerous. The midwives thought it was interesting.
If yours is aging too soon, the doctor will keep a close eye on you and may recommend earlier induction.
